Calculating the cost of living increase from 2000-2008

Any online inflation calculator (like this one at inflationdata.com) will demonstrate, the cost of living increase for August 2000 through October 2008 was 25.33%.

We calculate inflation for the period August 2000 through October 2008 because that period covers the first two New Caucus contracts and the only complete contract year for the last contract. Descriptions of the contract terms can be found at the following links:

We note that inflation for the remaining two years of our last contract will likely decrease because the economy is in a severe recession.
