Sheldon Friedland served as a faculty member of Kingsborough Community College for 33 years. He started the Tourism and Hospitality Department in 1982 and served as its Chair for 10 years. Shelly served on the College and Department P&B committees for many terms and worked under the Department of Student Services in the area of Student Activities for 20 years. Among his other activities, he was a hearing officer of the Faculty Sexual Harassment Committee for 8 years and also was the Faculty Alcohol and Drug Abuse counselor for 5 years in the 70's when then Mayor John Lindsey mandated such posts in all NY City agencies. Prof. Friedland is passionate about protecting the rights of faculty and has been a member of the PSC since early in his teaching career.
